UDHR_Article 26 – Right to Education for All

APIEM (Action for Peace, Inclusion, Education and Mobilization) works in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, to ensure equitable access to inclusive education. We support blind and visually impaired children, as well as other vulnerable youth, through adapted teaching methods, Braille and audio learning materials, and specialized guidance. Our approach fosters learning, autonomy, and social integration, placing inclusive pedagogy at the heart of every educational activity. With APIEM, every child, regardless of disability, can access quality education in Goma and the North Kivu region.

A Right for All,...

we believe that inclusive education is a fundamental right for all children and young people, regardless of their abilities, disabilities, or social background. Inclusive education ensures that every child – including those who are blind, visually impaired, physically disabled, or from marginalized communities such as indigenous groups like the Mbuti – has access to quality learning opportunities.

Many children face barriers to education due to disability, poverty, or social exclusion. Without inclusion, vulnerable groups remain isolated, their potential untapped, and their rights denied.

  • Providing Braille and audio learning materials to blind and visually impaired students.
  • Supporting inclusive schools and helping children access formal education.
  • Training education actors in participatory and inclusive approaches to teaching in schools.
  • Training teachers and staff on oralization of lessons to support blind students and on human rights principles.
  • Developing a comprehensive training program on inclusive education for educators and school staff.
  • Organizing community awareness programs on the importance of education for all children.
  • Offering mentorship and guidance to ensure children succeed academically and socially.

Through these initiatives, APIEM promotes the right to education for all, empowering children to learn, grow, and participate fully in their communities.
